Steve Duckett Takes DUI/DWI Defense Training to the Lab

Looking Beyond the Blood Test Result

Continued education in the science behind DUI/DWI cases is a core part of how Battlefield Law Group prepares its defense strategies.

Partner Steve Duckett recently traveled to Arlington, Texas, for Serious Science, an intensive six-day program sponsored by the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD). Steve joined a small group of DUI/DWI defense attorneys from across the country for advanced instruction focused on forensic blood testing.

The course included two full days inside the forensic blood laboratory at the University of Texas at Arlington, where participants prepared samples, worked with laboratory equipment, and studied how blood evidence is analyzed in DUI cases.

For Steve, the most important takeaway was understanding where that process can break down and how to identify those issues when reviewing the Commonwealth’s evidence.

“The prosecution faces MANY pitfalls in blood DWI cases. I know what those pitfalls are and how to spot them.”

Steve is a proud member of the National College for DUI Defense and regularly pursues advanced DUI/DWI training. That kind of continued learning strengthens Battlefield Law Group’s ability to closely examine scientific evidence, challenge weaknesses where they exist, and prepare DUI cases for negotiation or trial.

Battlefield Law Group represents clients throughout Northern and Central Virginia, with offices in Manassas and Forest serving the Lynchburg area.
